The Halloween party

Yesterday's party was so much fun! The Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings theme made people dress up as wolves, horses, dragons, white walkers, John Snows, Lord Varises, Ned Starks, red weddings and the one ring to rule them all. Me and Peter were Voldemort and Malfoy as the Harry Potter nerds we are and forever will be.

Party planning x 2

At the moment I'm planning two parties, a Halloween party we're having tonight (last minute plans!) and my 30th birthday party in January. The birthday party is going to be much bigger, for example I've already rented a really nice space for it. I want confetti, giant balloons, a gin & tonic bar, dj's and for all my friends from Sweden to be there. I know I can't have it all, but maybe the first four and a couple of friends?

Regarding the Halloween party I haven't made much plans at all. All Halloween decorations are so very ugly so I'm just gonna by lots of candles and maybe make a big bowl of punch. And dress up of course. Who do you think I'm going to be? Clue: it's a Harry Potter / Game of Thrones / Lord of the Rings theme.

Yesterday F! London had our second meeting and it was just as great as last time. For those of you who don't know it's a members group for the Swedish party Feminist Initiative in London that I've just started. Basically we're a bunch of women (only women so far) who meet the last Thursday of every month to talk about everything and nothing, most of it related to feminism. Yesterday we talked about Hervember, social media, a feminist bar club, Leake str All Girls Take Over, screen prints and a feminist book club. Follow us on Facebook to stay tuned.

Ceramics Thursday #5

Today I had my last ceramics class which ment some stressful three hours of painting and glazing everything in time. I used white or light grey glazes for most of my things but went all in COLORS on the large platter. Unfortunately I didn't know that it had to be fired a second time before you can put a final layer of transparent glaze on top of it. Though my great teachers told me just to come by next week to do it, while picking up my other finished pots and plates. So excited to see everything when it's finished!

Treasure hunting • A coffee table

Today I found a great little coffee table for £15 in a charity shop here in Hackney! I also found new spots for two of my largest plants. Slowly, slowly making our flat more homey. I'm still thinking of painting all floors in the same white as the kitchen since I still have a lot of paint left. What do you think of that? Do or don't?

Pumpkin soup with mushroom topping

This soup tastes like autumn, if there is such a thing.

1 small pumpkin or butternut squash
1 carrot
1 brown onion
20 cm of a small leek
1 clove of garlic
1 tbs veggie bouillon
1 cup creme fraiche
chopped fresh thyme
a bunch of mushrooms to fry in butter and throw on top

Start with chopping everything, then put it in a large sauce pan.

The pumpkin and I had a bit of a fight cause apparently I wasn't strong enough.

But after some 15 minutes it looked like this.

Stir fry for a while. Then add about 2 cups of water and let it boil until soft.

Mix it, then add the creme fraiche and thyme and re heat it.

Serve the soup with some nice bread, like this one for example.

Throwback pt 3: 2009-2010

2009

In 2009 me and my boyfriend at the time were in Italy with my family just before we broke up and I moved back to Gothenburg. I started to study art history and drank a lot of beer at Andra Långgatan with Edvin. I got my own flat which I shared with Nisse and Love (the cats), and later my sister Bella. Me and Bella went to Berlin and I decided I wanted to move there (which I later did). I volunteered at Gothenburg International Art Biennial and got to see loads of amazing art and I went to a Halloween costume party dressed as Cruella De Ville.

2010

In February I moved to Berlin where I stayed for a couple of months to study literature. I did a lot of drawing at the time and draw what later became an exhibition with my friend, talented Isabel, who I shared a flat with in Prenzlauer berg. In summer I moved back to Gothenburg only to return to Stockholm in fall when school started. I started to study Culture studies at Stockholm University where I met Juan who's still a very good friend and Sofia who I later started to dj with. I traveled to France with mum and dad and went to Way out West festival with Julia in Gothenburg. I also cut my hair shorter with bangs.

Cheese bread with thyme and sundried tomatoes

Today I made one of my favorite breads which definitely not would be in the healthy category if I had one of those. It's a buttermilk and bicarbonate soda bread that's very easy to make and you can use a bit of everything that you've got at home to spice it up. I used sundried tomatoes, cheddar cheese, thyme and pumpkin seeds this time but last time I had parsley and parmesan and it was just as good.

Basic:
4,5 dl flour
1 bicarbonate soda sachet
1 cup buttermilk (2,5 dl filmjölk på svenska)
2 eggs
1-2 dl grated cheese
1 tbs salt
1 tbs pepper
2 tbs olive oil

Extra:
chopped fresh herbs
chopped sundried tomatoes or olives
seeds of choice for garnish

Mix all the "wet" ingredients (buttermilk, eggs, olive oil) in a small bowl. Mix all the dry ingredients (flour, bicarbonate soda, salt, pepper) in another, bigger bowl.

Stir in the cheese, sundried tomatoes and herbs into the bowl of wet ingredients.

Then mix everything in the big bowl. It's gonna be very sticky.

Put the dough in a baking pan and into the oven on medium heat for 45 minutes.

Voilà.
