Cambodia in February

Since I still have the flu I decided to treat myself a little and what better way then to book tickets to Cambodia in February? Two weeks of backpacking and beach life with my bae. Now I've spent the whole day google:ing and making plans. I want to see the temples of Angkor Wat and the Tonle Sap lake but still spend most of our journey by the beaches in the south. All tips are most welcome! Hit me!

I woke up like this

Today I woke up with the worst flu, feeling like I've swallowed something sharp and burning that tries to strangle me from within. I feel pretty shitty, and as you've already noticed, I feel very sorry for myself. I'm just gonna devote this day to my bed, to tea, to books and to rummage around the flat in ugly but soft clothes. Maybe I'll try out our bathtub.

Playlist: Forever Summer

Last week I started making a playlist with my favorite dancehall, reggaeton and cumbia hits, which I really loved maybe three years ago. In a couple of minutes I had 38 tracks and more than two hours of great summer hits. Guaranteed happiness when listened to. You'll find the playlist here.

Juan & Amanda

Yesterday I met up with my friends Juan and Amanda who were in London for work – and some play with me and Lola. We went to The Russet next to Hackney Downs for a beer in the afternoon. Lola started off by pressing her nose against the camera lens so all pictures looks a little smudgy.

The little troublemaker.

Peter were there as well.

Amanda busy on the phone in the background.

Love at first sight <3

Me and Amanda! Stolen from Amanda's Instagram.

Later in the evening me and my former colleague Carolinè held the first Feminist Initiative London meeting which was such a success! So many amazing people showed up and we sat outside discussing feminism and everyday things til closing. Looking forward to the next meeting already!

My favorite recipes #1: Pasta

Ok, first of all, the title of the post is a lie. I never, ever follow recipes, I just look at the pictures, read the name of the dish and cook my own version of it. But here follows five of my favorite Pinterest inspiration pictures that I've "cooked" several times. First up is this cacio pepe with parsnips.

Then we have gnocchi with mushroom ragu. Like the perfect dish for fall.

Walnut Bolognese! This is SO good. Love to use nuts in veggie food.

Parmesan and spinach orzo. This is not so much for the sauce but for the variety of pasta; orzo. Use it for stuffing in oven baked veggies or to make a fast food pasta version of risotto.

Last up is butternut squash lasagna which you have to try if you haven't already. Yum.

Under the Dome

domeegg

Me and Peter started watching a new TV series two weeks ago, it's called Under the Dome and is based on a novel by Stephen King. it seems like these kind of mystery adventure dramas are our thing since we newly re-watched Lost and before that watched all seasons of Bates Motel (which is based on Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho). However, Under the Dome is about a small American town who gets trapped under this mysterious dome that no one can explain. We get to follow the people of the town as they struggle with being trapped and then mysterious things starts to happen when four kids founds a glowing egg. It reminds me of these shows that used to run during summer when you were a kid.

Pea pesto, cucumber salad and a sunset gif

Yesterday I made a green pea pesto out of frozen peas, a clove of garlic, some fresh basil leaves, pine nuts, salt, lime juice and olive oil. Just thaw the peas and mix it all together and it's ready to eat.

sunset

It had been raining most of the day but when I was cooking suddenly there was this beautiful sunset which turned the whole kitchen golden.

I also made this cucumber salad inspired by a picture from Love and Lemons instagram. It's just cucumber, feta cheese, red onion, dill, lime juice and olive oil.

Dreams of warmth and adventure

Me and Peter are looking into traveling somewhere in January-February since those are the most depressing months, plus it's much cheaper and than going somewhere around Christmas. At the moment we're quite into a mini backpacking vacay to Vietnam for two weeks. I want both sun and warmth, an ocean for swimming and nature for adventure. Vietnam seems to have it all plus amazing food!
