Silver & straw

It's not exactly news that I'm a fan of Swedish retail brand Weekday, so I guess no one's surprised I did some shopping there while I was in Sweden. Two of the things that I bought was this black straw cap and the oversized, silver jacket. Love them both and have been wearing them almost constantly every since.

Basics and upgrades

I had today off work and got so much done in the morning (dishes, tidying, toilet cleaning, bank meeting) that I was well worth a small shopping spree in the afternoon. I had a very specific shopping list that I followed with precision – I needed new slippers, basic t-shirts and a scrub and lotion for my so far very dry and sad summer skin.

The t-shirts are in a linen blend from H&M, the skincare is from & Other stories and were on 50% sale (win) and the slippers are Birkenstock's vegan version of the classic model 'Arizona'. Now I feel ready for holiday next week, but more about that in another post.

Licorice and lamps

Yesterday I went to Ikea to buy the lamps below for our bedroom. The whole idea with getting a bedside table each was to get a lamp each to be able to read before falling a sleep at night, but things take so much longer then you expect them to, right? Anyway, yesterday I finally got myself on that train but when I finally got there the fkn lamps had sold out, and I had even checked the in store availability in the morning. I was so sad and tired and frustrated I didn't buy anything except a salad bowl and loads of licorice and different cookies. And a rosehip drink. Yum.

Anyhow, when I got home again, with hours spent on what felt like absolutely nothing, I realized you can order the lamps online. So I did, and when I was on it a couple of other things that I've been having my eyes on for a while, slipped into that virtual basket as well. A rug for the living room and new bar stools for the kitchen for example. Now I just have to wait for the order to arrive before I can finally get to read all those books in bed!

Beach season

If you live elsewhere it might be fair to say it's almost beach season! In London, not so much. Ever. But with this beach kit I feel ready if the opportunity would present itself.

Bought in Brighton

I didn't buy much in Brighton even though we spent endless hours looking at things, but I'm quite happy with that. Here's what I got; a pair of sunglasses, a striped cotton dress and a plain black note book. All those flea markets and this is what I get? Quite typical, isn't it.
I've wanted a pair of tortoise colored sunglasses forever. I have so many pairs but almost all of them are black (surprise). These are the perfect model as well.

If you're curious to see a better picture of the dress, here's one.

What I'm wearing in 10 years

I have two new favorites that I feel like I could wear forever and ever. It's a pair of grey Nike Pegasus '83 and a pair of vintage Levis jeans that fits perfectly. Both the sneakers and the jeans are so comfy. The jeans are so comfy that I actually fell asleep wearing them the other day!

Working in retail with vintage and second hand clothing has definitely got me thinking about how much stuff we buy just to wear it a couple of times before we through it away. An average of 163 kilos of textiles is purchased every hour in a medium Swedish city. Do we need that? The answer is no. Therefor I got a new rule; can I see myself wearing the item in 10 years? That means it has to be both classic and of good quality.

I'm also trying to buy more eco friendly beauty products, as this wash and lotion from H&M Conscious.

Look how green it is outside our kitchen window now! Today I'm off since I've been working the whole weekend. So far I've had breakfast and been to a Pilates class. Left to do is grocery shopping, then I'm just gonna do nothing for the rest of the day! Or wait, I'm going to watch Beyonce's Lemonade.

Havana Blues

Silk nightgown, vintage | Day & Night Serum, No7 | Citrus Hand Cream, Jurlique | Havana Blues Body Mist, & Other Stories | Notebook, COS | Bowl, made by me

Today I found the fragrance I've been looking for all my life and I'm not even joking. Last couple of years I've been getting more and more sensitive to different smells (maybe since I stopped smoking on a regular basis?) and therefor I find most perfumes too heavy. Add to that that I've always liked mens perfumes better then the sweet, fruity ones on the womens shelves. The Havana Blues Body Mist from & Other Stories smells of "Dry tobacco leaves withering among beloved jasmine and ripe lemon" and is simply perfect. P:s first reaction was "I can use this" so I guess I either have to hide it or start stocking up on them.
